Happy New Year 2012

2011 was pretty unreal. As a matter of fact, one of my favorites. Skiing the beginning of the year was great, Ski Utah asked me to stay, I was able to travel a ton, and see my family much more than usual. I discovered yoga.

We got closer to some amazing friends. We watched two of my favorite ladies in the world create some beautiful sons. We made huge progress on the house. Everything was great.

This coming year, skiing will be good, our life will be good, and wow, I’ve got some great company coming soon (not to mention a major birthday…)I’m full of the happiness in life and hope you had a great 2011 too, and wish you a perfect 2012~

Remember you create your joy with every breath, every thought, every word, every action.

Jive Turkeys

It has been FIVE years since we shipped ourselves off to New Zealand for the holidays.

Since then we’ve had Thanksgivings in Austin, San Diego, and Utah aplenty. We are always lucky to have a life full of wonderful friends that are truly more like family to share our holidays with. Someday soon we’ll be celebrating with my family again and I look forward to that.

Of course, here and now, we will be skiing. Snowbasin opens tomorrow, and Canyons on Friday.

I’m thankful that my life is full of love, fun, and excitement.

There are a few things on this list that made me laugh. It is a good reminder of the things that will be important forever, and the things that change over time.

Oldentimes

Look around here in the past. This used to be such a thrilling time of the year. I was moving around years ago on Halloweens, starting to write books for NaNoWriMo. Seeing people I know now taking on the challenge to write a novel in a month makes me nostalgic!

Things are still thrilling, just in a different way.

I gave up my goals again and again in favor of new opportunities.

I also kept them on the back burner.

As much as I try to bring my books to life, I scare myself. I second guess things. I give up on editing.

I’m sitting now with a perfect couple of chapters, written, rewritten, and crafted to the best of my ability.

I’m happy blogging, freelancing, and continuing to sit and wonder if I can lift a book into a reality of published work. And I still believe it can happen.

I spend time waiting for everything to fall into place. Besides relationships I need to work to improve, my life has never been better.  Our house is beautiful, if not fully updated. We’ve met wonderful new friends, and I am continuing to enjoy the perks of Ski Utah. My family and I have been able to spend more time together than ever. I quit drinking, and started two-a-day workouts to prepare for the ultimate ski season. The snow is starting to fly.

I’m so blessed!

Pumpkin Cat

I haven’t carved a pumpkin in my life. We used to paint ours when I was little.

Ta-Da!

5 Years Of Marriage

Knowing someone for ten years, you learn their likes and dislikes. Being married five years, you learn about what matters in life and what doesn’t. I talked about our first wedding anniversary dinner, our second being on a trip to LA, and don’t even remember our third. Last year we went out to Hapa Grill with MH and pigged out on sushi.

Five is a special number, though. And we had a plan. We decided in the spirit of just how freaking outdoorsy we’ve become, to go camping for our anniversary. Us, a hike, a tent. Aw.

But, nooooo way was that going to happen this Memorial Day weekend!

All we can do is laugh and be thankful we chose to postpone the great outdoors trip based on the weather reports.

Gifts!

So, I did get some other gifts too…

First thing I love: Christmas decorations at 60% off.

(Doesn’t this look like something out of a magazine?

And it’s just a wreath for MY fireplace! And it was SEVEN DOLLARS).

Second: A Dadd who spent forever finding me some vintage skis to hang and make some art out of for the house!

And third: Super sweet (and taxing) treasure hunt around the house (inside and out!) for the perfect gift from hubby:

Ski Utah better watch out now! :)
